No one seems to be answering you, so i will try to give you some small bit of info.

I have not taken the tour, but I have been to Mascota several times. The drive is very scenic and quite worth while. The mountains are magnificent and the mosses, and bromeliads in the pines are gorgeous.

Mascota is a small friendly town (about 7,000). The people are more educated than in many other places nearby. There is a fine italian cafe with fresh baked goods, espresso, etc.

There are only a couple restaurants. The streets roll up early.

I am not familiar with talpa.

here is a link to some photos i took of the drive there... before the road was finished... so dont get put off. I took the drive last sunday and all is well.. no problems.

We went up to Mascota last Feb. The bridge wasn't finished yet, but the detour is OK. Had a rental VW.and never had any problems. It's a nice way to spend a day away from PV. We also went up to San Sebastion. Dirt road, very interesting little town, it even has a couple of places to stay if you want to overnight. I would do the trip again!
