Has anyone stayed at the Getaway LATELY ?
We're going at the end of Feb. and are worried about the average age of guests. We're 50 do we belong at this hotel?
How's the weather?

Well haven't been there lately, but was there last jan. There is a great mix of ages there. From 18 to 85. I found it fun that there was such a wide range it made it more fun and interesting to make friends. I think you will be comfortable there.

If this is the Blue Bay Getaway I would think twice about staying there. We were booked into this place in April/02. The furniture was worn and filthy in the lobby. The beer swilling contest started at 11:00 P.M. and raucously carried on into early morning. Lots of 18 to 30 year olds running up and down the halls banging on doors and puking off their balconys. Food substandard. Just like in the commercial the very next morning I plopped down the VISA card and sang "Rescue Me" to our tour rep. We arrived at our new hotel before the fax; 45 minutes to pack, find a taxi and check in! Oh, did I mention the 24 hour hardcore porn on the in house t.v. hookup? Good Luck! Travel safely. kind regards......

We stayed in the taller building and I never was kept awake by anyone. Our room was awesome. We slept with the balcony doors open at night and I couldn't hear any noise from below. As for the porn in the room, yes there is but its like anything if you don't like it don't watch it!! I don't ever watch espn because I don't care for sports but I don't complain that its on my tv.
I had a good experience there and had a lot of fun and I would stay there again.

I'm staying there Feb 14-21 as well, with a couple buddies. If you run into a few guys in their early 20's downing beers and whatever else, that'll be us, ha ha, j/k.. But seriously, we're a good bunch of guys that are going to be having a blast no matter where or if we sleep, and we don't mind partying with the senior folks either.

I haven't stayed there in the last 2 years, but I have stayed at this hotel 3 times and have always had a very pleasant experience. It isn't a 5 star, but I think it is certainly worth the four stars it has been given. The staff was always very friendly and helpful and I found there to be plenty for me to eat (and I am a picky eater). Some people complained of watered down booze and the like, but I've never had that problem. Don't hesitate to tip a little...it will get you a long way. As for the age group, you will not feel out of place. My parents, who are the same age as you, have been there 3 times as well and would go back in a flash. The location is outstanding. Keep in mind that there will ALWAYS be something that isn't quite up to your standards no matter where you stay, but it is amazing what a positive attitude, a smile, and maybe evena little tip can do to make your vacation everything you dreamed it would be...

Enjoy your vacation and don't worry about a thing...You're in PV!

Thank you for all the replies.
We're looking forward to our trip and now feel confident that all will be well.
All we need is sunshine and it'll be great.
Thanks again.

stayed there from jan 21- jan 28th of 2004

we had a room in the taller building - oceanview, large king size bed, on wall was all glass windows leading to the balcony. room was spotless, maids did a great job every day

service was top notch, bartenders were awesome, absolutely friendly... treat the staff as friends, as equals, and you will get the best service. Food was not GREAT but by all means acceptable, lineups were a bit of a bore, but lotsa coffee to improve the wait time. wish they had corona instead of Sol on tap, but can't complain at all.

never had one problem while we were there. everything was perfect, what we expected and more. Location is great, easily walkable to the malecon and further.
