Just go to an amusement supply store in your community and buy about a half dozen different coloured wrist bands. Then pick the one you need.

A couple of years ago when we went I took along a whole pile and put one of each colour on my wrist.... the timeshare sellers went nuts, as they seem to know which hotel you're at by the colour of your band... The front desk at our hotel saw it and weren't to amused, until I showed them I did it as a single day joke.

PS: I assume that your unexpected guest is human (not a pet), and also not one of those you invite to your room after you've had to much tequila and enjoy her sabre teeth (actually sounds like the same thing). Just walk up to the desk at your AI hotel and pay for your guest at the daily rate... If you show them you already have a band, they may give you a price break seeing they don't have to issue one of these high priced items.

The above may be written in jest, but three years ago when we were at the Melia they caught two people in the place who were not registered guests and marched them and their friends who were on vacation and registered there, but had somehow invited or smuggled their friends in, right out of the place. This happened in front of all of us.... didn't look like they cared much where they were all going to sleep that night.

Every color of the rainbow... depends on which hotel you are staying at, some places have different colors for different floors or quality of room... Maybe even to show what day you are leaving.... Every AI we've been at had numbered bands... they put them on you when you check in, and cut it off when you leave.

Sounds like you've never done an AI before... don't be trying to scam them... they have ways of supplying you a room that has less ambiance and most likely does not come with alcohol or food service.

Here's an idea....Walk up to the front desk and tell them at the last minute your mom decided to join you and ask what you need to do to get her registered? Everyone else that goes AI has to pay for each person so why try to do anything different than the rest of the resort guests do?

Don't think the resort won't be wise to all the games people play and being escorted out of the resort in front of all the other guests would be really embarrassing.

Especially to your Mom. Just go to the front desk and pay the AI fee for her. They won't charge you for an extra person in the unit if there is room for her as you said. Or, she could just pay for meals as she goes.

Most AI's don't allow that.... everybody has to go and pay the AI route... besides it might not be the meals that explain why some people aren't cheap dates.

In my younger days many of my friends had parents including a few who were their mothers that could drink the whole team of us 30 year old guys under the table. Try having to pay for that at a resort one drink at a time.

Me thinks times haven't changed.... some of them old broads can really put away the booze.

I don't understand how you think tipping the bell hop generously is going to get your mom food and drinks? What is it that makes you think you are so special or that your situation is so unique that your mom should be able to eat/drink and stay at a resort free while all the other guests must pay?

Trust me when I say the "resorts" in PV are wise to all the tricks of people trying to sneak people into the resort and it is going to be really embarrassing when they catch you. When they catch you they won't care who is watching or listening and they won't wait to take you into some private office some where. Is it really worth it to try to rip the resort off by not paying for your mom?

Just pay for her and get it over with, your vacation will be alot less stressful.

Edited to say: I am beginning to think you are either a troll or really dense because every post you have made has been about this same subject.

No, I don't think she has anger 'issues'.... but in our daily lives each of us have come across someone so moronic, stupid, and scammy that our inner anger is finally displayed... unfortunately we all don't notice that anger in the same way.... many studies show that persons with progressive mental conditions are impacted sooner than us normal people. They say that birds of a feather flock together... if you're a druggie, you relate with others who do the same... if you're a thief you seek other thieves to enlist into your schemes. Those of us on this board for quite a while know who our friends and acquaintances are and what they are about.... and buddy, we're not into scamming anyone.

Seeing as all of your posts to that point have been alluding to scamming the hotel by paying off their staff to in effect steal from their employer, it would be natural that within the same thread anything you post would considered to be connected in some way to your original intent.

It isn't about any anger issues. I just don't like dishonest people and what your are posting is out and out lying, cheating and generally being cheap. Again I ask, why do you think you are so special and entitled that the hotel should provide food and drinks to you at no cost? I have seen people thrown out of hotels on more than one occassion in PV, and it is pretty embarrassing for them. I say go for it, take down a whole gang of wrist bands all different colors, and I hope whomever you try to pay off alerts the staff and you get thrown out. You will be the type of person who will cry and complain and throw a fit and declare how dare they treat you that way!

Don't come crying back here when it happens because the people that post on this board pay their way or they don't go.

Y'all, need not go to Puerto Vallarta if you need to cheat and be on the cheap side. The first advice you received was given fairly and honestly, but you kept coming back with asking how best to cheat the Hotel.

You sure would not have made my Mom proud.

I read this forum all the time; but rarely comment. I am always looking for new places to visit, when we vacation in Vallarta. Just like to keep the wishes going, until we can return, I guess. This post really has me fired up. I am appalled at the idea of getting something for nothing. The resorts, businesses, and all the employees work so hard, to make our vacation a wonderful experience. I can't even get there in my mind, thinking that someone would expect to get something for just a few bucks slipped to the right person. First off, these employees need their jobs, which they probably would not have, if they were caught doing something untoward. Secondly, if you can't afford to pay the AI price go somewhere that you can afford. The Mexican citizens are kind enough to share their beautiful country and beaches with all of us, and I find it very sad that people try to take advantage of their kindness and generosity.
