Hi, thinking about returning to PV some time this spring (12th time). We had to skip last year, bummer. Anyway, got an email about Sunset Plaza Beach Resort. Anyone have any info? Looks to be around Buenaventura I think. The email kind of sounded like it was a timeshare, but I could be wrong.

It is brand new, just opened the middle of Dec. It is a timeshare property but being new they will have, as all timeshares do, rooms available that are either not being used or not sold as yet. I read part of one review that said they were extremely happy with their say in mid-Dec. Several other people have commented that they are trading into it on timeshare trades. From what I have read it is north of the Sheraton more in the area of Canto del Sol and Pelicanos.

Not much info out there yet because it just opened.

It overlooks the old Plaza Las Glorias and can be accessed from the road into Las Palmas where La Playa is. Built on the site where the Commercial Mexicana used to be before Mega opened.

I think the Peliconos is the old plaza las glorias. Canto used to be the Continental Canto del Sol years ago
But that new hotel is definitely north of the Canto and Pelicanos. You can't miss the vivid color of the building and it's height.

Used to be they considered Buenaventura and what was Premier Gran Turismo more of El Centro than the hotel zone.

The hotel zone was the Sheraton, Moranda, Casa Grande, Mar Elena, Continental Plaza, Plaza Las Glorias, Pelicanos, Las Palmas, Los Tules, Fiesta Americana, Qualton Club, Villa Del Mar and Palmar, Holiday Inn, Krystal, Hacienda Buenaventura, Crown Paradise, Vallarta Torre and Playa de Oro.

Talk about a blast from the past and a walk down memory lane.

OK, that helps. I hadn't heard the name before so wasn't sure if it was new or got renamed. I know about where it is and like that area, maybe we'll give it a shot - thx.

I stayed at Canto del Sol when it was Las Glorias, long time ago. I am just familiar with the names and locations because we pick customers up at different locations.

It is north of Canto del Sol and on the last street before Los Tules going north. Very nice and great location. The beach sucks but the pool is nice.

Thinking about exchanging into Sunset Plaza Beach Resort, but I can't find information about whether there is an all inclusive option, or if so, the cost ... anyone know? Even an email address for the hotel would be helpful, but I haven't found that either.

Sometimes google can be your best friend. :D

There is a contact us link. By reading their website it does not appear to have an all-inclusive option.

It appears to be getting excellent reviews, including from an airline pilot.

Can't really include Crown Princess in the litany of old hotel zone. Crown Princess was built on the old tennis courts of Playa de Oro.
