Tropical Adventures Botanical Garden tour

NOT recommended. The full day journey includes only about an hour and half at the gardens. Take the El Tuito bus for one twentieth of the cost, and pay the $5 admission on your own. That´s what we´ve done in the past but we felt that since they pick us up at the hotel and it´s an all day trip we signed up for the sake of the convenience.

They were a bit late picking us up, then there was a longish delay at their headquarters. But THEN, the first stop was a jewelry store on Olas Altas. We couldn´t imagine anyone on that bus not staying somewhere that wasn´t within a short stroll of a jewelry store, so this was entirely out of line and a waste of our time. And our money. By this time the morning is pretty much blown. Finally got rolling and made it to a lookout stop at Mismaloya. We got distracted by the view and the bus, about 20 feet away, started to take off without us. (Sincere thanks to fellow passengers for making the driver stop) We finally got to the Botanical Garden some time after 12:30 and were told we had free time until 2:05. Now this was supposed to be a trip to the Garden scheduled to run 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The urgency about leaving was to get to a tequila factory for a tour and tasting. Which was not in the brochure and we didn´t want or need it.

So we went straight to the restaurant, had a great lunch, then told the tour guide we were defecting, staying at the garden as long as we wanted. So that´s what we did.

So, after our fourth time at the Garden, we can unhesitatingly recommend going there. But don´t take the Tropical Adventures version.
