mysterious bite
Post
by kagnew64 » Fri Jun 20, 2008 5:46 pm
The 15 monthold G-daughter was bitten by something while we were in
PV last week. We first noticed a 1/2 inch square flare on her forearm.
That night a blister formed and was accidentally opened. By the next
morning a second blister had formed over the first. She never complained
of pain or itching. Last night (june 19) I looked at the area and it was back to a red flare no larger than 1/4 inch square.
Any one have an idea as to cause?

Two years ago, one in our party was whipped by a small sting ray on the top of the foot. She accidentally stepped on it and it whipped. The area was thin and long and blistered slightly.
Maybe similiar? I don't know as the square sounds like something different.

Were you in the ocean at all? I know there were many jellyfish in the ocean when we were there. It sounds similar to a reaction given by the white jellyfish. If she were stung by a blue one she would be in terrible pain based on the people we saw who got stung by the blue ones.

and ...
Don't bug me
Sweet songs about itsy bitsy spiders and other creepy crawlies are anything but cute when it comes to summertime bug bites. Itchy, scratchy, and sometimes worse, insect bites can really “bug” you.

This sounds like a classic description of an insect bite. Most likely a spider of some kind.

Insect repellant is always a wise thing to pack and use . We are hearing of west nile virus cases more and more (Canada) . Simple precaution can save a lot of angst .
