The Americans are fast too, just can't hold on to the baton :( And another great beach v-ball match. USA baseball lost to Cuba in the semifinals. What's this world coming to?

"USA baseball lost to Cuba in the semifinals." Can't be right. We put an embargo on them years ago. I think this includes loosing in baseball? Chuck... 8)

Them embargoes really work well don't they? A majority of Canadians have never been there.

Embargos SUCK! They are an old way of trying to prove a point. If the old men in Washington had any balls, it would be over. Chuck...

Cuban embargoes

Post by kagnew64 » Wed Aug 27, 2008 6:38 pm

I understand the origanal reason for the embargo. Heck, I was stationed out beside the FLA tomato fields in the '60s. But the embargoes shud
have been lifted with the fall of the Iron Curtain. The US government is
letting rich old Cuban ex-pat dictate policy. Carry the Cuban vote in So.
FLA and get elected to political office. I wonder who is getting richest off
that deal.
Food for thought- Brazil is self-sufficent in the production of alcohol for
gasohol. Even starting to export alcohol to other countries. All of this
alcohol comes from sugarcane.
Cuba produces great sugarcane, but needs technology and capital to get
started.
Wait too long and Hugo Chavez will have Cuban ethanol to mix with his
Venazuelan sour crude.

alcohol comes from sugarcane.
So isn't that like putting sugar in the gas tanks on a massive scale?
