Here in northern Manitoba it is minus 33 with a windchill of minus 47 right now! Certainly wakes you up when you step out the door! It's been like this for close to a week now - and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight. Can't wait for the warmth of PV!!

Our winter weather surley doesn't compare to you guys up north or in the rest of the states. Here in the San Francisco bay area we usually have a pretty mild winter temp wise. These past few days have been very, very cold. Where I live it is not getting above the high 40's or low 50's durning the day. I know all of you hardy people who really have a winter are laughing, but for this girl it is just too cold. PV here I come on the 26th for 16 days of sunshine.

They say it's -53º out there this afternoon and colder tonight... Kindergarten will be full 5 years from now.

We got lots of snow too.... nice cracking sound under the boots... no thunderstorms, no forest fires, gas price is finally at a low enough price... what more could we want.... oh yeah... dream about PV and 150º difference.

Oh Yeah! Hockey game is just starting.... Oilers gonna wax Vancouver tonight.

Temperatures Rising

Post by smitty » Sun Dec 14, 2008 5:35 am

Chico I'm sure we are all feeling sorry for you - not ! :) -2 celcius and a few flurries today but not a bad day . Monday temps are supposed to be around +6 so we should lose all our snow . I can't imagine how cold anything beyond -30 is - even the Polar Bears must be shivering !

Little further south than Ronald,so we don't have as much snow, but we are enjoying the same temps of -35, wind chill of -50. I sure didn't feel like getting up to go to work this morning. :(

-25 wind chill of -41.......Another great day of snuggling under the covers, eating chips and dip and watching Christmas movies. Maybe I'll bake something. Spending the day with a friend that can't go home because it is storming outside. Dreaming about how we will be in PV in just over 2 months.

Can't wait....can't stop looking at pics of PV. Checking out tours, hotels, restaurants....I can almost feel the heat!!! Oh wait...that's the heating pad I'm sitting on!

Like Mikeypv in San Francisco, I can't really say it's that cold. High today of 48F but overcast and dreary. I remember when I lived in Reno, Nv., days like this I would be out enjoying the break in the cold. Snow level is supposed to be down to 500' tonight and we're at just over 400' so there is a possibilty of seeing some snow fall. That would be about the 4th time in the 23 yrs I've lived here. BTW, Mikey, remember what Mark Twain said, "The coldest winter I ever spent was summer in San Francisco".

What is really sad, Smitty, is that we are about 150 miles south of Churchill and they are slightly warmer than we are right now! The polar bears might be moving down here! :)

Cold In Toronto

Post by smitty » Sun Dec 21, 2008 11:25 pm

Well I will admit I am a Canadian wimp - I don't like winter and pray for mild temps . We've had about 6 inches of snow and heavy winds in the last few days . My prayers are being ignored . :?:

Smitty ... your prayers are not being ignored. No is an answer too! Just not the one you want.

Have you booked your holiday yet?

I have to leave a day earlier now. The airline called the other day telling me that my 6 am flight on the 7th was cancelled and that they could get me onto another flight 2 hours later but then I would miss my connection. But she said, she had a flight leaving on the 6th and was I interested in that one instead? Well, I said, only if I have to!!!

Oh, not to get to far from the topic ... It's very cold here.

You know you live in Saskatchewan when you're excited because the temp is supposed to get all the way up to -20.

Mucho frio in Iowa

Post by lojol60 » Wed Jan 14, 2009 11:49 pm

Well, it is so cold in Iowa that most of the schools (including Ankeny where I work at) have cancelled school for tomorrow which is totally unheard of. The temps are supposed to be -30 without the windchill. I'm thinking the folks in Canada are sharing their cold weather with us. Please stop!!! We have had enough snow, ice and frigid temps. March 14 can't get here soon enough!!
