Monopoly Vive Mexico!

The Mexican Department of Tourism has partnered with Hasbro to produce a promotional Monopoly game under the title Monopoly Vive Mexico. The sites on the board will be the UNESCO sites throughout Mexico, that have been deemed, by UNESCO, to be of the greatest cultural and historical value to the world. For the collectors among our readers, this is the opportunity of a lifetime to grab a few "still in the seal" copies before they are gone. Look for them in local stores everywhere, especially in tourist gift shops.

22 sites chosen for Monopoly Mexico

THE NEWS

The new Mexico Edition of the Monopoly board game will be introduced this month. Twenty-two Mexican World Heritage Sites will be featured in the game, after being voted on by citizens of the country.

The company that makes the board game announced that after several weeks of open voting on the Internet to choose the sites that will be featured on the squares of the special edition board, the results are in.

The most voted-for sites, in this order, are: Campeche, Zacatecas, Tlacotalpan, Calakmul, Tajín, QuerActaro, Morelia, Puebla, San Miguel de Allende, Oaxaca, Xochicalco, Palenque, Early 16th-Century Monasteries of PopocatAcpetl, Puebla, and Morelos, the Agave Landscape, the Hospicio Cabañas, and the Franciscan Missions of the Sierra Gorda.

Also appearing on the board game will be: the Gray Whale Sanctuary, Monte Albán, Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, Teotihuacán and Chichen Itzá.

The order of popularity of the sites voted for online will be reflected in the game.

Monopoly Mexico Edition is part of the Tourist Promotion Council of Mexico's campaign to reactivate tourism in the country, after the decrease in tourism caused by the economic crisis and the influenza situation. The special edition will be introduced September.
