driving fears

Post by randomgood » Sun Mar 21, 2010 4:37 am

my wife and I came down to pv for the first time this past Jan. and we're now scheduled to return to Canada via Nogales.

Crime has increased a lot over the last couple months and we're a little unsure about the drive back. I would actually prefer to just fly and have a trucking company return our car to Canada. Is anyone aware of a company that will do this?

Or is there others looking to leave this week (March 22 - 24) that we maybe able to group up with. We're looking to stay overnight in Navojoa?

please let us know.

thanks

Benito,
Crime has increased in various areas driving back to the states. Not in PV but areas in between and also closer to the border crossings.

driving

My parents just drove from PV to the united states and had no problems. My Mom had heard some things and was nervous but all went smooth and no crime happened while they were driving.

has there been trouble on the hwy 200 toll road?...the only thing i've heard about is the usual mayhem in juarez and a shootout in monterrey.

I have read of problems lately around Durango, Monterey and some other areas closer to the border. I do believe some problems havebeen when people got off the toll road to find a place for the night, etc. A week or so ago there was an issue with fake roadblocks being set up around Laredo. The majority of people say if you stay on the toll roads and tavel during daylight hours there are no/not as many problems. There are usual problems in the border cities that have been going on for years and greatly escalating lately.

When we came through Nogales, we were in the middle of a drug take-down. The net effect was that traffic was tangled because of the main road being closed. It took an extra hour to get through town at 6:30 am. But we never felt at personal risk.
