sunset in october

I need to make a reservation for a beach table at La Palapa for 2 weeks from now, and I'd appreciate it if someone could advise the approx sunset and nightfall times currently. Thanks all, Ross
Sunset
Someone gave me a link once to a page that shows all sunrise/sunset times but I can't find it...so you get to rely on my memory (at your peril LOL).
I go late October almost every year (this year is the exception ) and sunsets generally fell between 6:30 and 7:00 local time by my recollection. I remember that distinctly because I knew what time I'd have to get up from my siesta to make sunset happy hour at Cuates y Cuetes every night. LOL
If you want to make sure you get a good table and get to watch it from start to finish, I'd make the reservation for 6:00 to be sure.

Re: Sunset
Jennybean, I saw you post previously about missing your trip this year, sorry to hear that. Hope you can reschedule sooner than next Oct, that's way too long. Actually, the table's for 4, including our teenagers, and I'm afraid they may get restless if we're there too early, so I'm now thinking more of 7ish, with sunset around 7:30, according to Spud's url. It's neat at night with the torches, and I'd like to be there for both the sunset and the dark. If it were just my wife and me, we could sit there all night. Some of our best memories in Vallarta have been made there.Jennybean wrote: If you want to make sure you get a good table and get to watch it from start to finish, I'd make the reservation for 6:00 to be sure.
Spud, thanks for the url, I've bookmarked it. Should come in handy for other things, like planning our camp trips. Ross

Interesting.......
the days start growing longer in PV on Nov. 30 yet the winter solstice up north where I live (Oregon) doesn't begin until Dec. 22nd. Guess I should go back to school and learn more.
Time Zones
Don't forget to take into consideration the time zones when reviewing websites - they all list different ones for some reason. Which is why I prefer to go by my memory.
My recollection is clear after 6 years of going in October, sunset fell between 6:30 and 7:00 pm local time every night. The later into October and early November my trips went, the earlier sunset got. I usually head home around the 4th or 5th of November, and sunset was falling around 6:30 on the nose by the time I left. My winter trips I do distinctly recall sunset happening around 6:00pm local.
If you have the kids, make the sunset reservation for 6:15 or 6:30 and you should still see the best part of it.
rossk - thanks. I opted for school this year instead of my trip, but as my annual departure date gets closer (I'd probably be leaving in the next week to 10 days, normally), I'm starting to really feel it. I'm not waiting until next October though, I have a week planned mid summer with some friends to celebrate the completion of my courses...then back in October for at least two weeks to see my "family" of friends that I'll miss this year.

Hi Miss Flash
Would you set me right please.
I answered a question on another board about sunset times in PV, by cutting and pasting one of your reports.

Re: BELIEVE ME
Thanks for your perseverance, Spud, we inquired at the restaurant, and they indeed said it was somewhere around 7:30. I have no idea where that 5:30 time comes from on the other website. I guess if it were Nuevo time, and on standard rather than daylight, that might do it...
We'll reserve at 6-something, and enjoy the night. Thanks to all for your input.

Sunset
Ok spuddo, I give up. Guess I'm blind and drunk and can't read my watch when I'm there. LOL So I'll just end by saying this was never an argument so I'm not sure what you think you were trying to "settle", I was providing my own observations based on 6 years of trips at the exact same time of the year.
By 6:30-7:00 the sunset process has begun, and if anyone wants to watch it, that should be when they make their way to the beach - never once did I say that was when the sun SET. I stand firm by that observation, and I'm sure the half dozen or more people who sit and enjoy hora feliz with me at CYC every October would be happy to confirm it too.
Anyways ross, I'm sure after a day or two you'll get the lay of the land as far as sunsets go, it only takes about a day. As long as you're not booking the dinner for the first night you should be able to do so when you arrive based on your own keen powers of observation and do just fine. (-:

It's a Skill Dude
My reading skills are perfectly intact, but I'm definitely questioning your comprehension skills.
How many sunsets have you seen that last 30 seconds, pal? LOL
Most people who travel to PV, and I suspect the original poster is no different, want to know when the sunset starts, not when it's friggin over! The whole point of knowing when it starts is to be there to watch it.
Not sure why you chose to make this personal, as I stated (just for that comprehension thing again) there was no argument.

Jellybean
I'm afraid it's your comprehension that is sadly lacking.
Please note that it said SUNSET, not " when does the SUNSET start ".
To be strictly correct the sunset starts, the instant after the sunrise.
There is no argument, I was only pointing out that you were wrong, and letting Ross know what time SUNSET was, so that he could decide how early he should arrive to see the blessed event, as he had qualms about his restless teenagers.
My play on your name , is in reply to your play on my name, must be fair and balanced, eh ?

The original question was "sunset in october"American Heritage Dictionary - Cite This Source sun·set (snst) Pronunciation Key
n.
The event or time of the daily disappearance of the sun below the western horizon.
A decline or final phase: the sunset of an empire.
Please note that it said SUNSET, not " when does the SUNSET start ".
To be strictly correct the sunset starts, the instant after the sunrise.
I was not making it personal ( it is you who is trying to make it personal, and no matter what you say IT will not faze me ).Not sure why you chose to make this personal, as I stated (just for that comprehension thing again) there was no argument.
