Getting a Sim Card for Prepaid at Airport?

Post by Tigurius » Thu Apr 15, 2010 5:53 am

I'll be bringing 2 of my unlocked GSM cellphones with me so my girlfriend and i can keep in contact with eachother in case we get separated. is there a place in the airport or very close to the royal decameron that I could pick up a sim card for prepaid service? What am I looking to spend? We don't really plan on using it that much so probably the lowest amount possible. Thanks in advance.

The SIM card will have to be registered with your passport effective April 13th. I don't know of place at the airport that does that but I am sure a dealer in Bucerias could do it. Should be about 200 pesos with 150 pesos talk time.

Really? I have to attach it to my passport? Do you know the reason why they require this?

They know who actually owns the cell-phone that way. The criminal element everywhere loves to use untraceable phones... this is a great way of having some control over them.
