Tell me about Plaza Caracol : Is it an enclosed Mall?
Air-Conditioned?
Or does each store have an entrance to the outside, so you walk
outdoors to go from store to store?
Where is it? I can't seem to find it, looking out the window,
on the taxi ride to/from the airport and Dreams.
Is it next to the Gallerias Mall?
what about Plaza Caracol

Plaza Caracol is in the hotel zone (across the street from Los Tules) past the Penisula mall on the opposite side of the street. There is Lans and Pizza Hut by the front entrance to the parking lot.
The mall is 2 story just like any other indoor mall. There are a few businesses and banks on the outside of the mall, a bank, money exchange, chicken to go, etc. Otherwise you enter all the shops from inside mall entrances. It is Air Conditioned and has a movie theater.

waiting for shopping
Thanks for the info ! I cannot quite picture the location. But how fun to
have something to ponder as I wait for my vacation !
There is no enclosed mall where I live, so a visit to the Plaza C. is just another great thing about PV. I went to Galleria last time. I still really like the shoes I got there. But want to try the other mall this time. IMHO the shoes made in China (that they sell around here) just do not compare in quality to leather shoes made in Mexico.

beach or shopping
thanks for the map, Keith
i'm thinking that Plaza Caracol is considered to be
on the beaten track, and so is a safe place for a tourist to visit.
as much as PV is safe overall, just checking, to reassure those in my
group who may worry about me (from their beach chairs) as i go
off on my PV shopping.

will try Plaza Caracol this time
too much shopping? now that's a risk i'm willing to take !
pretty good place to shop for basics
Since we stay in the Hotel Zone, at Los Tules, we do most of our shopping for necessities (bananas, sunscreen, coffee, laundry soap, eggs, limes....) at the Soriana in Plaza Caracol. Sometimes, especially on a hot afternoon, we wander around window shopping. Most of the shoppers are locals, which is fine with us. In addition to groceries at Soriana, sometimes we'll load up with pollo y papas (the aforementioned "chicken to go") from the booths on the fringes. If you're not staying in the hotel zone, and are stocking up, do what the locals do there and at Sam's and Walmart: take a bus to, a cab from. Just walk real fast past the time share booths. Repeat after me: "No gracias."
