Engineer/building inspector needed

Post by Scott & Grace » Sat Oct 29, 2005 1:45 am

Hello all! We are planning to build a 2nd floor in Yelapa on top of an existing cement structure. I am having difficulty locating a civil/structural engineer or qualified building inspector in PV that we can hire to check the property out.
We would greatly appreciate any referrals or even some names from the phone book to contact. Gracias![/list]

Hi Scott and Grace--Neither one of your posts on this subject indicated whether or not you are presently in PV (Yelapa) or whether or not you currently own the property on which you wish to place a second floor.

Why don't you start out by contacting the American Consulate in PV and explaining what sort of reference you are looking for. They have a list of various kinds of specialists in several different areas. The Consular Officer's name is Kelly Trainor. The E mail address ia Amconpv@prodigy.net.mx. Maybe they will share their list of recommended people by E mail. If not, it is definitely available by personally visiting the Consulate in PV. More importantly, they have a list of people to avoid.

If I were you, I would not be relying on the advice of a some kind of building inspector. You need a written report from a qualified, highly recommended engineer.

Did you ever make contact with Judimex?

Hola North
Thank you for your quick reply and info. We are in N. Vancouver and heading down the 2nd week of Dec. We don't own the land but know the family well. We'll have a 9 yr 3mth renewable lease. Not great but we hope it will work out ok. I've been going to Yelapa on/off for 30yrs so know alot of people.
I have been given a list of three engineering firms to call and am emailing the US and CDN (if there is one) consulates to see what help they can be.
I haven't heard from Judimex but hope others may come forward with suggestions.

I'll let you know how we make out & thanks again!
