Celebrate the Beat Stars Children from Punta de Mita

Post by burchern » Mon Feb 15, 2010 8:20 pm

Primary students of Corral del Risco are developing pride, confidence and work ethic in the second annual dance program, Celebrate the Beat. The children will star in a grand performance open to the public at Hotel des Artistes Sky Bar in Anclote on Saturday, February 20th at 5:30 p.m Jalisco.

Professional dancers, choreographers, musicians, and composers from Colorado based Celebrate the Beat Foundation (CTB) have partnered with PEACE, a local non-profit, to host the music and dance filled evening with all proceeds benefiting PEACE programs.

“This is such an inspiring event,” said Molly Fisher, Director of PEACE. “The kids that are sometimes overlooked in the classroom become stars on stage. You can see their hard work and their growing confidence and enthusiasm. ”

Teachers from CTB believe that integrated arts programs create physical and mental strength that manifests itself in the classroom. The group has traveled around the US and Mexico to share their program with grade-school children. This year, the students from Corral del Risco will learn dances inspired by Dr. Seuss’s "Horton Hears a Who.”

Event details include:
• 5:30pm – Doors Open
• 6:00pm - Performance by the kids
• 7:30pm - Live Auction
• 8:30pm – DJ Bola
• 10:00pm – Finish

Tickets are $200 pesos and include a cocktail. For more information, please contact Nicole@peacemexico.org.
