PEACE Summer Internship

Post by burchern » Mon Apr 05, 2010 7:39 pm

The PEACE Summer Internship Program gives college and graduate students in the US and Mexico the opportunity to improve their foreign language and leadership skills while providing a unique educational opportunity to public school children in Mexico. The 5-week internship program will bring together over 50 interns to teach a curriculum focused on helping students in the Bahia de Banderas region near Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to develop English language and entrepreneurial skills. You will teach local students during a 3-week summer camp.
As an intern, you will work with local teachers and PEACE staff to refine the curriculum you will teach in your classroom. Each intern will be responsible for shaping the educational experience for a class of 15 students in elementary or middle school. You will empower your students by teaching them how to add value to their communities through our project-based curriculum. By the end of the summer, each class will complete the process of creating an entrepreneurial venture. Skills taught include English, marketing, fundraising, accounting, computer skills and effective management practices.
As an intern with PEACE you will also:
• Have fun with fellow interns during organized evening and weekend excursions.
• Improve you foreign language skills through daily classes and structured conversation time.
• Receive classroom training on topics such as presentation skills, critical thinking, conflict management and leadership and the chance to practice these skills in real time.
• Explore the beautiful towns and beaches of Bahia de Banderas.
