Makes me remember when I was about to get stranded in Tokyo because I didn't have enough money to pay the stupid airport tax (this before I even had a credit card)... luckily I has saved a 200 peso bill for my stay in Mexico City airport, which I remembered in the last moment and changed to dollars (at an awful rate :-)) and paid the airport tax... This was in 1998, before the WWW became such a good information source.

Ticket

Check your airline ticket list of fees and taxes - it should be noted there.

I believe all airlines now include the departure taxes as part of the fare - I haven't had to pay it as an extra since 2000.

Thanks, I will do that tonight.
I am pretty sure I did not paid anything the last time but I want to make sure of it.

Oddly enough, my husband just had to pay a departure tax in cash at the airport in Caracas.

don't lose the immigration stub they will give you entering mexico. the airline will take it when you check in to go home. if you don't have it they will charge you again for the departure tax.
