We flew Mexicana out of San Francisco a few years ago and aside from having to change planes in Mexico City it was a good experienc. We got 2 meals between SFO and Mexico City and another meal on the short flight on to P.V. The price was right and the service was great.

I have read that as of the end of the month if not sooner, that all nonstop flights out of LAX and SFO to PVR have been eliminated. I would work with customer service to find out exactly what is going on. I love Mexicana and am really sorry to see it stop service out of the airport from which I fly.

As of 6 p.m. August 4th they have stopped booking all international flights from the US to Mexico. I think you have your answer. They have filed for chapter 15 protection in the U.S. and are restructuring. When and if flight reservations resume is anyone's guess right now. Their website says "All internation flights already ticketed will be honored and all flights within the country of Mexico are run by their partner airlines and are not affected.

Mexicana refunds

Post by poppy » Sun Oct 10, 2010 12:20 pm

Pre-paid tickets: Mexicana is now offering refunds through their website if you have a paid ticket. American Express credited my purchase, but I haven't yet applied for the refund; but I've purchased new tickets through USAir.

Mexicana put that link for refunds up on their website when they announced they had stopped all international flights in Aug. I applied for a refund and filed a dispute with my CC company. The credit card company was well aware of the situation and credited my credit card immediately. If you apply for the refund and call your credit card company you won't have to wait for them to go through all the legal preceedings. The credit card company made it really easy to get the cost of the ticket credited back.
