Bus from PV to Mazatlan?

Planning a trip to PV for a week... then somehow getting to Mazatlan and spending a week there with friends. Can anyone give me information on this?
- Cost?
Length of trip?
Comfort level (AC?)?
They actually live closer to Villa Union, (30-40 min south of Mazatlan)... anyone know if we can just get off there rather than go all the way into the chaos they call Mazatlan?

Only weird thing is I can't book any travel after October 14, 2012. They seem to add a few days more every so often... but nothing like Expedia or Orbitz.
Tickets will cost $27 USD One Way.
