Mariachi music

Post by mat1898 » Fri Jan 25, 2008 12:19 am

Help! I've been to PV several times and we are in search of "authentic" experiences. I remember wandering in old Vallarta one night and happening on to a open Mariachi type bar.
It was mixed with many locals and some tourist.
We had a blast there. I think it was Mariachi Loco. Is it still a fun place? We prefer "authentic" experiences. We are taking our 9 and 11 year old kids this time, so factor that in.

Other "authentic" suggestions welcome. My wife speaks Spanish so that's not a barrier. Thanks Matt in Grand Blanc, MI :)

Mariachi

Post by Jennybean » Sun Jan 27, 2008 7:12 pm

You'll get the same responses here you got on Trip Advisor.

Mariachi Loco - however the mariachis start very late (around 10:30 or 11:00)

La Chata - start a bit earlier, along the Malecon

La Huerta - Sunday afternoons during the mongolian bbq lunch there is live mariachi

Other than these there are several groups that stroll the restaurant scene mostly on the south side that you can hire for about 50 pesos a song.

Hi,
In the state of galisca, and all along the pacific coast, Mirachi includes the local indigenous peoples and European, Spaniards. The famous song of mariachi is "El Jarabe Tapatio". The mariachi show begins at 9pm.The mariachis stroll and play as guests join in impromptu singing -- and by 10pm it gets going. After midnight the mariachis playing by
the musicians whole night.

Can a person in a wheelchair get into Mariachi Loco, or is it upstairs?

It shouldn't be a problem unless the doors aren't wide enough but it is definitely a mainfloor venue.
