We like their breakfasts a lot, especially chile and beef. Yum. And when we were just down we ate dinner there one night and got wonderful fish. The margs are good too. I don't think it's the best restaurant in town but it's good.

We go for lunch, refuse to stand in line at night. Hubby enjoys the fish, I like the plain ole cheese enchiladas, my daughter and her husband are fond of the seafood platter for 2. I agree that the food is just okay and the service is hit and miss. Was there once with my daughter-in-law and we were virtually ignored by the wait staff while the tables around us with men in their parties were treated very differently. Left a rather bad taste in my mouth, so it is not high on my list of must do restaurants in PV.

I tried Cafe de Olla ONCE!! The carne asada was horrible. After years of seeing the long lines my wife and I decided to give it a try. What a major disappointment. Try Mi Querencia instead, order anything, it will be delicious.

I have been coming to PV since 1996 and have never been to Olla. After we moved here in 2007, I said to DW that now we can finally try it when there are no lineups. Still have not found the reasons to do it...
But then we like dining rather than fueling...
BTW Tachos Pancho right next door is great!

We were just there in Feb., and Takos Pancho next door to Cafe Olla was wonderful. Also probably one-third the cost of a meal at Cafe Olla.

We discovered a new taco place a couple of streets down from El Barracuda and think it is way better than Takos Panchos, it is called Rocko's Tacos. It has a pineapple salsa to die for.

The address is Honduras #125. If you are heading south after the Buenaventura Hotel, Honduras is the second street after the hotel, turning right towards the beach. He's on the right and opens around 7pm.

Cafe Olla is a tex mex and fills the void if you're hungry. Fine dining it is not but, many folks aren't interested in that. I've eaten there a number of times, and have had no complaints. I remember when it originally was a tiny pie place and was the size the kitchen ('88 as that's the first year I visited PV). In fact, the kitchen was where the seating was. Pies would be laid out on the window sill, and it was a good place to to have dessert, and coffee. If memory serves, they also offered sopas and the like. Within a year or, two, it had expanded to what it now is.

I have been visiting PV for the past 17 years and enjoy eating at Cafe de Olla every time. I think the staff is wonderful and rarely stand more than 5 minutes for a wait. Fermin is a wonderful host too! I cannot wait for our visit in November and have the Seafood platter.

The seafood platter is awesome however not more then a 5 minute wait?? Maybe thats true in November but in February it is definitely more then a 5 minute wait. Lots of people just love this restaurant. Its a little to "busy" for me. I have a new favorite..The Mediterranean Cafe. Small, quaint and fantastic homemade cooking. Her desserts are to die for!

Probably less traffic the first week in November and that is why we Love that time of year. I make sure to visit my favorites every trip. They make you feel like family. I try and reccommend Cafe de Olla to all my friends.
