Are there any exceptional bakeries in PV?
Old town would be preferable, but I'm willing to travel a bit if it's the really good stuff.

There is one near Joe Jack's Fish Shack on Basilio Badilio, that usually has some really good looking stuff displayed. Dee's coffee shop across from Cafe Bohemio also has great baked goods. I really enjoy the cranberry bread and cherry pie. There is also a new bakery next to the Molina de Agua which I have not tried, I think it is called Rivera something.

"Paradise Bakery and catering" in Jalisco is my personal favorite. The best part is, they provide "Private Chef Service" i.e. a chef is sent at your door step to prepare meal and other bakery products.

The French Riviera in Rivera Molina is a great place to go and eat in/out but the bakery on Badillo is the best place for take out. If you are in Old Town, listen for the Muffin Man as well for home delivery.

The problem with Mexican pasteries (in my opinion)is that Lard is used extensively in the preperation of the pasteries. And I just don't like the un-healthyness of lard. Chuck...

We are getting married in PV this Fall and have rented a large villa for our family and friends. I'm mainly looking for a good source of bread and buns etc beyond the normal grocery store offerings.
We are all cooking together for the better of a week and I want to lay my hands on some quality stuff for sandwiches etc

Soriana, Mega, and Walmart all have onsite bakeries with good selections. The products run the gamete from breads, rolls, pastries, cakes, cookies. I would check them out, you might be surprised at the quality, as we were very pleased with what we have purchased from the above mentioned. In the past Rizo's also has carried a nice selection of breads and rolls.

Have to agree with MikeyPV I especially like to browse trough the Bakery at Soriana and pick out goodies there.

The best baking is in Bucerias at Sweet Things....YUMMMMM Cinnamon buns to die for AND fresh baked breads etc. She also makes amazing cakes. It's run by a couple I know from Manitoba. I'm suspecting if you had a bigger order you could get delivery!

Nice! I've know them forever....we live in a small town close to where they grew up. You can probably pre-order and I know they close early afternoon and are closed on Wednesday's. Gotta get there early for all the good stuff!

mykul will you have access to a car? Bucerias is a 20/30 minute drive from PV. The bakery sounds wonderful but just wanted to let you know that it is not close to the romantic zone, maybe they are willing to deliver or meet half way.

We will probably have access to a car. Several of our friends will be coming from Aguascalientes, I'm sure they will drive.
I will drop them an email a little closer to us leaving and see if we can work something out.

Most Mexican pasteries are crap in my opinion. Most never use real butter just lard. If you want good tea rolls or for small sandwiches, Costco or Sam's has great ones.... and they also have other good pastries. I agree about Sweet Things in Bucerias....

Since Mykul is marrying a Mexican woman who has grown up on "crap" and they will have her entire family there for the wedding I am sure the Mexican "crap" won't offend them.

That being said we may end up at Sam's etc simply because we will need around 10 dz.
