Cruise Season 2018-2019 Underway

The arrival of cruise ship Island Princess at Puerto Vallarta marked the beginning of the cruise season, which goes from October 1st until May 5th. 2018 is projected to close with the arrival of 150 ships.

Cruise season in Puerto Vallarta will mean a 95 million pesos economic benefit for the region, only during the month of October, this being one of the most important beach destinations in Mexico and the world, and also thanks to its diverse touristic range. The economic impact is projected to be even bigger in 2019, where the region is expected to receive at least 180 cruise ships. So far, the biggest ship that has docked at Puerto Vallarta is the Norwegian Bliss, with over four thousand passengers and one thousand two hundred people in its crew.

After Cozumel, Puerto Vallarta is the destination where cruise ship tourists spend the most, with an average of $98, while the crew spends $65 on average.

The Administración Portuaria Integral (API) noted that  Vallarta is constantly working on infrastructure to maintain a level of quality in the services offered, which is why PV currently has three docks that can handle ships with the highest of demands. Fidetur and the API will work in unison to keep promoting the destination to bring even more people and benefit the region.
