Puerto Vallarta and Santa Barbara ratify great 50-year friendship

In the central courtyard of the municipal palace, where the Sister Cities Friendship Agreement was signed, the municipal president, Professor Luis Alberto Michel Rodriguez, presided over the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the twinning of Puerto Vallarta and Santa Barbara, California. According to Prof. Michel, “only brotherhood and fraternity are capable of arousing the deepest of values in humanity, and that is precisely what was honored on this occasion, a brotherhood of fifty years with our family from Santa Barbara, California.”

He recalled that this Sister Cities Committee was established in 1972 and has made significant contributions to Puerto Vallarta over the past 50 years, including the Santa Barbara Rehabilitation Clinic, the Hyperbaric Chamber (one of only three in the nation at the time), the Dolphin Fountain on the Malecon, the ongoing police exchange program between the two cities, additional donations, the creation of libraries, assistance to the Fire Department, and much more.
