Puerto Vallarta’s prestige is on the rise.

The friendliest destination in the world has strengthened its positioning at a national and international level, and this is not only reflected in the statistical results of this year that is coming to an end. Once again, it has obtained distinctions of the highest recognition at a global level thanks to the collaborative efforts of all the actors involved in Puerto Vallarta’s tourism sector, both companies and authorities, and, of course, all the workers involved in the industry without chimneys.

This was stated by Ludvig Estrada Virgen, the municipality’s director of tourism and economic development, who emphasized that Mexico has even surpassed figures from 2019, and Puerto Vallarta is one of the main players as it is on its way to setting records in visitor flows. He said 2022 is the year of recovery for most countries after the effects of the pandemic. It is undeniable that it is one of the top travel destinations for both domestic and foreign tourists, with excellent results in air traveler arrivals, economic spillover, and hotel occupancy. We have seen this all year long, and we will continue to see it during one of the city’s most crucial seasons, the winter, for which we have high hopes.

He underlined that offering the highest quality standards in services, which are acknowledged by the top authorities in the global tourism business, has been important for Puerto Vallarta to maintain this rising trend. The Travel Honors, sometimes known as the Oscars of the travel business, were held last year, and Puerto Vallarta had previously taken home four international awards, including gold for the best honeymoon destination in Mexico, silver for the best destination in Mexico, and bronze for the best tourist office in Mexico. This year, there were five prizes given out in the same competition: a silver trophy for Mexico’s Best Culinary Destination, as well as bronze awards for Mexico’s Best Tourism Office, Best Destination, Best Destination for Weddings, and Best Destination for Honeymoons. This is nothing new since Puerto Vallarta has won accolades from organizations like PriceTravel, Conde Nast Traveler, Travel & Leisure, the Family Travel Forum, Apple Vacations, the FishingBooker, which focuses on sport fishing, the Canadian Garden Tourism Awards, and many more over the years.
