The Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico (GAP) reports that the Puerto Vallarta International Airport has seen more than 4 million travelers in just eight months.

Since the arrival record for 2019 was just over 3.5 million passengers, the growth of 2022 compared to 2019 (before the pandemic) is more than 17%.

The research points out that over 476,000 tourists passed through the airport precinct in August, with domestic passenger traffic totalling 261,100 and foreign passenger traffic coming in at 215,000.

When compared to the same month in 2019, total passenger traffic increased by 19.8% at GAP’s 12 Mexican airports in August 2022. In comparison to August 2019, the airports in Tijuana, Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, and Guadalajara had growth of 43.2%, 37.3%, 29.6%, and 6.3%, respectively.

During his recent visit to this tourist hotspot, Raul Revuelta Musalem, General Director of GAP, stated that the Puerto Vallarta International Airport could see 6.5 million people by the end of 2022, which would be a record number,

Additionally, he emphasized that some flights will be returning during the winter, making November the month with the most passengers.
