VBG Celebrates National Botanical Garden Day

The National Botanical Garden Day is celebrated on June 22 and Vallarta’s Botanical Garden (VBG), one of the best in North America, has prepared several activities for the day, under the tagline “Botanical Gardens in defense of pollinators.”

This is an initiative promoted by the Botanic Gardens Conservation International, or BGCI, and it has been adopted by the Mexican Association of Botanical Gardens (AMJB), according to Neil Gerlowsky, Executive Director of Puerto Vallarta’s Botanical Garden.

The main purpose of the celebration is to increase the public knowledge about plants and how they related to human well-being and our ecosystems; while also promoting, through guided tours, our country’s biodiversity and its safeguarding.

On June 22nd, activities will begin at noon by welcoming all the attendees. The backbone of the celebration is made of five short but substantial lectures on several subjects related to botanical gardens.

Event participation is included in the VBG’s entrance fee, which is $200 pesos.
