The Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board proudly announced that the town welcomed Sports Illustrated (SI) to shoot their annual Swimsuit issue on our shores. The edition featuring PV hit newsstands this past Wednesday.

SI producers, crew and talent headed to Puerto Vallarta March 1-6 to showcase the destination and some of the most talked-about women in sports across SI's print and digital platforms. One of the most iconic brands in the publishing world, the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue will bring Puerto Vallarta and its tourism offering to the attention of more than 70 million consumers.

After a long day of location scouting and months of pre-production work with the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board, the SI Swimsuit team selected the unique setting of famed Las Caletas beach as the backdrop of their session in the destination.

Puerto Vallarta is reasserting its position as an international 'It' destination, not only for its natural offering but because of all the activities there are to do in this city," said Javier Aranda Pedrero, Director of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board. "It is important for us to work with outlets such as Sports Illustrated as it enhances our reach and positioning of what is new and trendy in Puerto Vallarta."

The May 8 release of the 2019 SI Swimsuit issue will be followed by a weekend of launch events in Miami to celebrate the models and crew who played a role in this year's edition. Puerto Vallarta will be featured in extensive photo and video content across SI's online and social platforms, further driving awareness around the destination.

Vallarta’s Botanical Garden has placed 5th in USA Today’s 10Best Reader’s Choice 2019 as one os the best botanical gardens in North America.

Although the list has been dominated by gardens in the U.S., the Vallarta Botanical Garden has placed twice, first in 2018 when it became the third international botanical garden to place on the list, ranking in at number 4 and this year when it placed at number 5. Montreal’s Botanical Garden also placed in this year’s list coming in at number 10.

“We congratulate the Vallarta Botanical Garden on this honor as it represents part of the grand flora and fauna found in Puerto Vallarta,” said Javier Aranda Pedrero, Director of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board. “Puerto Vallarta is a lush destination, green, where we respect the Sierra Madre Mountains and the Bay of Banderas. We invite our visitors to experience the many ecological adventures offered in Puerto Vallarta, including the Estero el Salado and Los Arcos National Park.”

USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice 2019 Best Botanical Gardens in North America are initially selected by a panel of experts who voted on the top 20 botanical gardens, and then the final top 10 were determined by popular vote at the 10Best website — including Sherry Boswell (Travel Plans in Mom Hands), Cindy Brockway (The Trustees), Abby Meyer (Botanic Gardens Conservation International-U.S.), Nicky Omohundro (Little Family Adventure) and Katy Moss Warner (American Horticultural Society) Eileen Ogintz (Taking the Kids) who has worked with the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board to promote the destination’s offering previously.
