In celebration of Puerto Vallarta's 100th annivesary and as part of the Centennial 2018 festivities, Vallarta will hold a marathon on Sunday, April 15th. This marks a milestone for the town because it's the first time a full marathon will take place in the city.

The convening of this event is open to runners and general public under the following categories: Free: 18-39 years; Master: 40-49 years; Veteran: 50-59 years and Veteran Plus: 60 years and older. The award includes three absolute winners with prizes of $10,000; $6,000 and $5,000 for the first, second and third place respectively. In the same way the winners of each marathon category will get $4,000; $3,000 and $2,000; meanwhile the half marathon winners will have $2,000; $1,500 and $1,000 respectively. Times and results will be published on the website www.maratonpuertovallarta.com .

Start and finish for the marathon will be at the port terminal at 6:30 in the morning along with the half marathon race. To finish the competition organizers have established 6 and 3 hours respectively.

Registration fee is $500 up to March 31 and $600 until April 13. For registered competitors number and chip delivery will be at the Puerto Vallarta’s Marathon Expo on April 14 on a schedule from 9:00 to 18:00 hours. Competition register is available online at www.trotime.com.mx, by sending an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. Incanto Theatre announced its upcoming cello recital, a classical music concert full of talented and awarded musicians you can’t miss next February 17 and 24. The recital will feature Donald Moline, accompanied by Jean-Guy Comeau, both performing a suite for cello and orchestra especially composed for this event: Canciones de Vallarta, which will be performed for the first time as a World Premiere.

Donald Moline is a Grammy Award winner cellist and has established a distinguished orchestral, chamber music, solo and recording career. A member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for more than 39 years, he has been awarded the Theodore Thomas Medallion and has performed worldwide with some of the greatest conductors and musicians. Jean-Guy Comeau holds degrees in pedagogy, voice and piano; and works in Montreal and Puerto Vallarta.

The two will be performing Canciones de Vallarta, a suite composed especially for the event by 10-time EMMY-winning musician John Henry Kreitier, a well-known composer of concert, film, TV and theatre music, who resides part time in Mismaloya. All of the proceeds from these events will go to IAMPV (Instituto de Artes Musicales Puerto Vallarta), a non-profit organization that provides musical education for students in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit.

Both evenings will begin with drinks and hors d’oeuvres  at 6:00pm, followed by a 7:00pm concert. During the first hour there will be performances by some IAMPV students. Incanto Theatre is located at Insurgentes 109, Col. The 'Gala Puerto Vallarta- Riviera Nayarit 2018' took place this past monday and tuesday, february 12th and 13th. Considered one of the most important events in the country's turism industry, the gala is celebrating its 24th edition and it gathered national and international distributors, wholesalers and hotel representatives.

 

In its 24th edition, the Municipal Dicrector of Tourism -Ramón González Lomelí- attened the gala on behalf of the Municipal President -Arturo Davalos Peña- and welcomed some 65 wholesalers that gathered this year, of which 25 are from Mexico and 40 are from foreign countries, including the US, Canada and Peru, all of whom negotiated with the 95 participating hotels.

This event allows the attendees to establish relationships with the hotels for the upcoming seasons in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit, it also boosts the natural assets of the area and the tourism industry of the bay.

CARNAVALPV

Offering fun and excitement for all ages, the annual CarnavalPV celebrated Vallarta's 100th birthday this year, with thousands of cheering residents and tourists from all walks of life together on the city street curbs as they watched floats and parade participants march and dance celebrating the diversity of our city. 

Hundreds of revelers from all walks of life marched, danced and promenaded three-kilometers in a wonderful menagerie of energy, song and whirling colors on Tuesday night. The Annual CarnavalPV — celebrating Puerto Vallarta’s 100th birthday — was a true celebration of life, energy and joy, providing an outlet of entertainment for residents and putting on an unforgettable show for visiting tourists. More than 30,000 spectators lined the picturesque route to enjoy the arsenal of glitter, feathers, paper mache, sequins, music and pageantry.

Incanto featuring Ballet Folklórico Tradiciones captured top honors and the $10,000 peso cash prize provided by PVRPV.com for the most creative entry among the 50 entries that took part in the annual outing. Reinas Bar and Andales on The Bay also received ‘honorable mention’ for their colorful entry.

Next year’s parade is slated for Tuesday – March 5, 2019. Event organizers, Gary Green and Tim Longpré, wish to thank Pvblo Corona, the volunteers, participants, spectators, Turismo Municipal de Puerto Vallarta, Police, Transit Police and the Protección Civil y Bomberos Puerto Vallarta for their support.

Chili

Chili lovers rejoice: the 6th Annual Charity Chili Cook-Off is set for Saturday, February 24th from 1-5 pm at El Rio BBQ Bar in Paso Ancho. This year the chairman for the event is Jim Sullivan.  All proceeds from the cook-off go to local charities and the community.

It's an "All you can eat" chili feast, featuring recipes from some 16 popular PV area bar restaurants and sponsors - all competing for trophies and bragging rights. There will be two categories of chili judging - one by popular vote from attendees and one by professional judges. Cost is $250 pesos per person. In addition to all of that chili, an order of El Rio's famous smoked riblets and an agua fresca are also included. Regular El Rio menu items will be available for purchase. Entertainment will be provided by several cookin' musical groups.

Emcees Pearl Burrus and Vera Carp are two of the 22 zany characters from Greater Tuna, a satirical comedy about small towns, small minds and big hearts, now playing at Incanto in Puerto Vallarta.   All 22 characters are portrayed by two men, Tracy Parks and Ron Spencer.  There are 42 lightning fast costume changes in the show which will keep you laughing from start to finish.  For tickets please visit www.IncantoVallarta.com. 2 bottles of PATRON Tequila will be raffled off. Bring a non-perishable food item for one free raffle ticket. 1 ticket per donated item. Food will be distributed to those in need.

El Rio BBQ is located in Paso Ancho, in a beautiful setting alongside the Cuale River. Doors open at 1 pm. Directions: from the south or El Centro/Old Town, take the Libramiento through the small tunnel, then turn right at the signal just past the bridge. From the north, turn left at the signal after the large tunnel and just before the bridge. Free parking will be available. The 04 Blue bus from Old Town, which you can catch on Lazaro Cardenas, drops you off at El Rio's front entrance.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance from any of the event's sponsors, including Steve's Sports Bar and Carol's Boutique, both on Basilio Badillo in Old Town. There's still have space available for a couple of more entries.
