The local Navy League Council is already hard at work preparing for the 22nd consecutive year of raising funds to distribute toys to needy kids during the Christmas holidays. They’re collaborating with their many local sponsors, importantly including the Marriott CasaMagna Resort & Spa, Vista Vallarta Golf Club, Coldwell Banker Real Estate, and others to make this the best year ever.

Over the past 21 years, the local Toys for Tots program has distributed more than 175,000 toys (and smiles!) to some of the neediest kids throughout the Bahia. This year we hope to raise enough money to hand out at least another 8,000 toys! In addition, we plan to add to the dozens of playgrounds we’ve constructed over the past 20+ years.

Our two major fundraisers will be held in early December. First up will be a charity golf scramble on Saturday, December 7 at the Vista Vallarta Golf Club. You can sign up yourself or as a Team by contacting Jerry Lafferty at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. This is a fun annual outing that raises loads of money for a very heartwarming and fun cause.

Next up will be the annual Toys for Tots Charity Ball at the Marriott Hotel the evening of December 8. It will be an evening of great dancing and a delicious dinner served by the award-winning Marriott chef. Again, contact Jerry Lafferty if you also plan to attend the Dinner/Dance.

As a result of a new promotional push in the United States, there’s a new charter flight announced to connect Kansas City, Missouri with Puerto Vallarta-Riviera Nayarit for the 2019-2020 season.

This new charter flight is offered through Vacations Express by Sunwing, operated by VivaAerobus. It will be a direct flight with two operational stages: from February 16 until March 15, and from May 24 until August 2, 2020, with one weekly flight (on Sundays) covering both the winter and summer seasons of 2020 and offering 6-night vacation packages.

According to Vacation Express, the new route will use A-320 planes with 180 seats, which translates into roughly 2,500 new seats for the Vallarta-Nayarit region.

Kansas City is currently fourteenth in number of passengers that arrive at Puerto Vallarta’s “Lic. Gustavo Díaz Ordaz” Airport, currently their flights all connect through Dallas, Houston or Denver. This new connection is proof of the trust and preference the US market shows for our region.

The 2019-2020 Vallarta ArtWalk season will kick off on October 30, 2019 and be held every Wednesday from 6:00 to 10:00 pm through May 27, 2020

Over the years, Puerto Vallarta has become a very important art center, with more galleries than any other Mexican coastal destination. An important contribution to the city's art scene is the Centro Historico ArtWalk which, this season, is celebrating its 24th year of spotlighting the downtown area's many fine galleries.

Featuring art in all mediums - paintings, sculptures, fine ceramics and jewelry - the purpose of the art walk is to provide a pleasant atmosphere for art collectors, art patrons, local residents and interested visitors to discover the great variety and exceptional quality of art available here.

For the 2019-2020 Centro Historico ArtWalk, participating galleries will include: Galería Colectika • Only One • Galería Córsica I & II • Posters International • Cristi Fer Art Studio • Galeria Brown • Diseño Natural • MannMade Mexico • Galería Pacifico • Galería Caballito de Mar • Galeria UNO • LOD • The Loft Galería • Galería de Ollas • Sergio Bustamante Gallery

Since all the galleries on the Puerto Vallarta ArtWalk are located in the city's historic downtown area, walking from one gallery to another is an easy, enjoyable experience.

The Centro Historico ArtWalk is not a guided tour and there is no admission fee. You are free to start at any gallery on the list and spend as much time as you wish at each one. This is also an excellent way to meet new people, visit with old friends, and get to know the wide variety of artists who present their creations in the different galleries.

Chile En Nogada Preparado.

For the month of September, Café des Artistes (Puerto Vallarta) and Tuna Blanca (Punta de Mita) invite  everyone to taste one of the most emblematic Mexican dishes: The Chiles en Nogada.

This dish showcases the colors of the Mexican flag: the green chile poblano (filled with ground beef and some fruits and seeds, such as yellow “criollo” peach, San Juan pear, “panochera” apple, almonds and pine seeds), covered with the famous Nogada, a white sauce made with walnuts and goat cheese, that adds a sweet flavor and a creamy texture. The last step is to add red pomegranate seeds that compliment the flavors for its light acidic touches.

In Café des Artistes or Tuna Blanca, you will be able to taste this delicious dish that uses typical ingredients and follows the original recipe of Puebla, with the incomparable chef’s Thierry Blouet seasoning, who will offer this recipe in both its vegetarian and traditional versions.

For dessert, you will enjoy a delicious Chile Habanero Dulce (Sweet Chile Habanero), which is filled with passion fruit mousse and served with vanilla ice cream.
