The Vallarta Botanical Garden is hosting its annual Hummingbird Week from July 9th to 13th, offering a unique opportunity to learn about these fascinating creatures. Throughout the week, the garden will come alive with special activities for all ages, included in the standard entry fee of $300 pesos.
Imagine tiny marvels flitting between vibrant flowers, their wings a blur of color. Hummingbirds, with 57 species calling Mexico home (13 of them endemic!), are not only dazzling to watch but also vital pollinators. Their presence is an indicator of a healthy ecosystem, and in Mexican culture, they symbolize our connection to nature’s beauty.
The Vallarta Botanical Garden is a haven for these aerial acrobats. Visitors can spot the fiery flash of a Cinnamon Hummingbird, the dazzling crown of a Violet-crowned Hummingbird, or the shimmering green of a Golden-crowned Emerald. Keep an eye out for the Plain-capped Starthroat, the Berylline Hummingbird, and even the elusive Mexican Hermit.
