Vallarta Sees Surge in Cruise Ship Arrivals

Puerto Vallarta has experienced a significant increase in cruise ship arrivals during the first month of 2025. According to data from the Jalisco State Tourism Secretariat, over 64,000 cruise passengers visited the region in January, marking a 9% increase compared to pre-pandemic levels.

This surge in cruise tourism has had a positive impact on the local economy, generating a total of 110.59 million pesos in revenue, representing a 5.8% increase compared to the same period in 2024. The data was collected by the Jalisco State Tourism Information System, based on information from the National Port System Administration (ASIPONA) Puerto Vallarta and the Bank of Mexico.

On average, each cruise passenger spent approximately 1,700 pesos during their visit, supporting a wide range of local businesses including restaurants, tour operators, and shops. The data also indicates that visitors had access to a diverse range of 518 commercial establishments.
