Vallarta Recognized as a Tree City of the World

Puerto Vallarta has has recently been recognized as a Tree City of the World. This prestigious designation, a joint initiative by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Arbor Day Foundation (ADF), celebrates cities worldwide that are committed to growing and maintaining urban forests.

This year, 210 cities across 24 countries and six continents were honored for their dedication to promoting best practices in urban tree management. Notably, 75 cities and municipalities from Latin America received this recognition, including 27 from Mexico.

Reforestamos México, a leading organization in the Tree Cities of the World program, provides support to Mexican and Latin American cities in achieving this recognition. The Tree Cities of the World designation recognizes cities that meet five core standards: assigning responsibility for tree management, establishing tree protection policies, maintaining an inventory of trees and green spaces, allocating an annual budget for tree maintenance, and engaging the community in tree-related celebrations.
