The Puerto Vallarta International Airport, along with the Guadalajara airport, experienced a significant increase in air passenger traffic during the first quarter of 2025. Combined, the two airports handled over 6.7 million passengers, marking a six percent growth compared to the same period in the previous year.
Puerto Vallarta’s airport handled 2.1 million passengers, representing 32 percent of the state’s total. Notably, a larger proportion of travelers arriving in Puerto Vallarta were on international flights, accounting for 69 percent, with domestic flights making up the remaining 31 percent. The Puerto Vallarta International Airport registered a total of 17,866 flight operations during this period.
March proved to be the busiest month within the first quarter, with both airports collectively handling 2.3 million passengers, a 7.2 percent increase compared to March 2024. Guadalajara airport saw approximately 1.6 million passengers, a 10 percent rise, while Puerto Vallarta airport recorded 763,000 passengers. These figures, released by the Pacific Airport Group (GAP), indicate the strong tourism and economic activity in Jalisco, as well as the confidence travelers have in its destinations and air connectivity.
