This information comes from the local Hotel and Motel Association, indicating a significant number of accommodations were fully booked.
It’s also important to note that a substantial number of visitors chose to stay in the homes or apartments of friends and family, contributing significantly to the city’s economic activity beyond traditional hotel stays. While final statistics are still pending, the Hotel Association anticipates that the Easter Week will also see a strong average occupancy rate of around 85%.
The first major wave of vacationers began their departure on Sunday, primarily using the short highway and Federal Highway 200 North. Reports indicated congestion around toll booths on the highway, while Federal Highway 200 experienced smoother traffic flow. Jalisco Civil Protection authorities emphasized the increased vehicular flow due to returning vacationers and urged drivers to check their vehicle safety, avoid driving while tired, respect speed limits, and report emergencies via 911.
