Councilman Christian Omar Bravo Carbajal, who heads the municipal commission for Free, Clean, and Certified Beaches, explained that securing beach certifications and improving coastal environments are key objectives of the current local government.
Following the successful quality certification and White Flag designation for Playa de Oro, the next significant step is obtaining the Blue Flag for Camarones Beach. Bravo Carbajal noted that work on Camarones Beach has been underway for several months to meet the specific criteria required for Blue Flag status, which includes detailed assessments and water sampling that began two months ago.
He anticipates that the official certification, complete with the flag presentation, will take place between July and August. Bravo Carbajal urged the community to continue caring for Puerto Vallarta’s beaches, rivers, and canals that flow into the sea, emphasizing the importance of a clean and healthy environment. He stressed that beaches are a shared responsibility, reminding residents not to dispose of trash in streams or canals, especially during the rainy season, as this waste ultimately ends up in the ocean.
