El Camichín Undergoing Major Rehabilitation

The administration of Mayor Luis Munguía González has commenced paving work on Geranio Street in Ixtapa, just north of Puerto Vallarta, more commonly known by residents as El Camichín. This project is part of a broader effort to uplift one of Ixtapa’s most significant and representative neighborhoods in the region.

During the groundbreaking event, Mayor Munguía expressed his enthusiasm for returning to Ixtapa, acknowledging that it was time to prioritize renewal in this important delegation. He highlighted that Geranio Street is one of five thoroughfares slated for rehabilitation in this initial phase, fulfilling a commitment to deliver much-needed improvements to a hardworking and deeply rooted community.

The project involves a comprehensive overhaul of the roadway and enhancements to its surrounding urban environment, addressing a long-standing demand from local residents. Community members celebrated the start of the work, anticipating its positive impact on the area’s appearance, safety, and connectivity. Edén Castillón, the Director of Public Works, added that this initiative complements other planned works on streets within the delegation, including Santo Domingo, Iturbide, and Francisco I. Madero.
