This unique event, organized by Limpia tu Mar Puerto Vallarta A.C., will take place on October 19, 2025 and combines environmental action with friendly competition, aiming to clear marine debris from Banderas Bay and raise awareness about ocean pollution. The tournament is a proactive response to the millions of tons of plastic that enter our oceans each year. By focusing on removing floating debris, the event directly tackles a threat to the bay’s marine life. It also serves as a powerful reminder that collective community action can make a tangible difference in protecting natural resources.
This year, the competition will run from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Los Muertos Pier. Teams will compete in various categories based on the type of trash they collect, including PET, glass, aluminum, and bulky waste. In addition to prizes for the most waste collected, a special award will be given for the most creative team.
The event is open to everyone, and teams of up to five members can register. The 5,000 pesos donation per team supports Limpia tu Mar’s year-round marine cleanup brigades. The donation covers a boat, nets, gloves, trash bags, and official T-shirts. Space is limited to 40 teams, and registration is open until September 30, 2025.
