Construction on the new Terminal Building (NET) at Puerto Vallarta International Airport is progressing rapidly, currently reporting a 54% completion rate. The massive expansion project, which is set to finalize by the end of next year, will nearly double the airport’s operational capacity while setting new standards for sustainability and technology.
The project is a flagship initiative of the Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP), representing a total investment of 9.2 billion pesos. Designed to handle approximately 14 million passengers annually, the NET will increase the airport’s functional area to over 74,000 square meters. The expanded facility will feature significant upgrades, including 15 new aircraft positions and 14 modern, autonomous immigration checkpoints, greatly enhancing efficiency for travelers.
A core focus of the new terminal is environmental responsibility, positioning it as a national leader in green airport infrastructure. Rubens Tobón, the NET Project Leader, highlighted several architectural features dedicated to sustainability, including the installation of 32,600 square meters of solar panels designed to supply up to 80% of the building’s energy needs.
