The tourism sector in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit is experiencing robust growth, fueled significantly by the strength of its luxury hospitality offerings. It is estimated that a remarkable six out of every ten three-to-five-star hotels in the region belong to the premium segment, establishing the area as an essential destination for high-end travel in Mexico.
According to a report by real estate services firm CBRE, this focus on luxury has yielded impressive results, with both regions recording hotel occupancy rates exceeding 72% from January to August 2025. This dynamism is largely attributed to the increasing influx of international tourists who possess greater spending capacity, combined with a stable and strong domestic market.
The analysis confirms that both Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta have achieved a solid occupancy base through a successful blend of domestic air connectivity and a diversified product range. The local hotel market features top global luxury brands, including Rosewood, Meliá, Montage, and Pendry, all contributing to the high-quality experience offered to guests.
