Road Closures and Logistics Announced for PV Marathon 2026

Organizers have finalized the logistics and traffic plan for the 7th Edition of the Puerto Vallarta Marathon, scheduled for this Sunday, April 19, 2026. With over 3,000 runners from 24 countries expected to compete, the city is preparing for a high-impact event that starts and finishes at the iconic Los Arcos on the Malecón. The marathon and half-marathon will kick off at 5:30 AM, followed shortly by the 10K and 5K races at 5:45 AM.

To ensure runner safety, traffic restrictions will begin as early as 2:00 AM on Sunday. The primary closure affects Avenida México, specifically the stretch between the Sheraton Hotel and the Malecón. The race route will then extend through the central lanes of Avenida Francisco Medina Ascencio up to the “La Corona” intersection, also impacting Fluvial Vallarta and Avenida Rodríguez Barba. Drivers are urged to use Calle Perú and the Luis Donaldo Colosio Bypass (Libramiento) as primary alternate routes throughout the morning.

City authorities expect to reopen roads progressively as the last runners pass, with the Fluvial and Airport areas estimated to return to normal around 9:00 AM. Full traffic restoration across the city is projected by noon. Travelers heading to the Puerto Vallarta International Airport or commuting toward Bahía de Banderas are strongly advised to leave early and factor in significant extra travel time to avoid delays.
