Puerto Vallarta is sharpening its pitch to international golf travelers after participating in IAGTO’s 17th North America Golf Tourism Convention, held June 22 to 24, 2026, in Mexico’s Riviera Maya.
According to Tribuna de la Bahía, the Puerto Vallarta delegation held 38 one-on-one business meetings with specialized buyers while promoting the destination’s golf courses, hotel infrastructure, air connectivity, dining, and visitor experiences. The effort focused on high-value golf travelers who often book well in advance and combine rounds of golf with restaurants, tours, and resort stays.
The convention was organized by IAGTO, whose North America event connects golf resorts, clubs, hotels, tourism boards, destination-management companies, and travel advisors selling golf vacations across the Americas. IAGTO described the 2026 gathering as two days of pre-scheduled meetings for suppliers and accredited golf tour operators from North America, Latin America, Europe, Australia/New Zealand, and Asia.
For visitors planning a golf-focused trip, the push reinforces existing options around the Puerto Vallarta golf guide, Marina Vallarta, and nearby Nuevo Vallarta. Tribuna reported that Marina Vallarta Golf Club and Vista Vallarta Club de Golf supported the destination’s presentation.
The timing also aligns with the VidantaWorld Mexico Open 2026, scheduled for October 29 to November 1 at the VidantaWorld Vallarta Course. The official tournament site lists the course as an 18-hole, par-73 layout of 7,287 yards, while Visit Puerto Vallarta notes the PGA TOUR event’s return to the Greg Norman-designed course.
For Puerto Vallarta, the golf segment is not only about tournaments. It supports longer stays, resort bookings, restaurant traffic, and premium visitor spending across Banderas Bay.
