Two Puerto Vallarta hotel restaurants are on the 2026 World Culinary Awards nominee list, giving the destination another food-and-travel talking point ahead of the October awards ceremony.
Gaviotas, the ocean-view fine-dining restaurant at the Sheraton Buganvilias Resort & Convention Center, is listed by World Culinary Awards in the Latin America’s Best Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant 2026 category. Mikado, at the Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa, appears in the Mexico’s Best Hotel Restaurant 2026 category.
The official awards site says the 2026 nominees are part of the seventh annual World Culinary Awards program. Local reporting adds that Gaviotas previously won its regional hotel fine-dining category in 2024, while Mikado has operated since 1990 with a teppanyaki format where chefs prepare dishes at 14 grill stations in front of diners.
For visitors, the nominations are useful context when planning a higher-end dinner night, especially for travelers staying in the Hotel Zone or Marina area and comparing Puerto Vallarta restaurants. The awards ceremony is scheduled for October 13 in Jamaica, according to the local report, and voting is being directed through the official World Culinary Awards website.
