In a thrilling playoff, Brian Campbell emerged victorious at the Mexico Open at VidantaWorld, securing his first PGA Tour title. The American golfer defeated South African Aldrich Potgieter on the second playoff hole at the Vidanta Vallarta golf course.
Campbell carded a final round of 70, one under par, to finish the tournament at 20 under par, tied with overnight leader Potgieter, who shot a final round of 71. Both golfers made par on the first playoff hole, also the 18th, but Potgieter faltered on the second attempt, allowing Campbell to clinch the win with a birdie.
The victory marks a significant milestone for the 31-year-old Campbell, who has been a professional golfer since 2015 and currently ranks 222nd in the world. This is his first win on the PGA Tour.
Argentinian Alejandro Tosti was the top Latin American finisher, coming in 10th place at 14 under par. Defending champion, American Jake Knapp, finished in 25th place at 11 under par.
