Plan your ride back to PVR, check your flight, arrive with enough time, and know what to expect at check-in, security, and the gate area.

Check your flight and build in a buffer

Flight status
Use the official airport or airline status before your transfer arrives. Peak winter weekends and Sunday afternoons can feel much busier than a normal weekday.
Check flight status
Transfer timing
Arrive about three hours before international flights and two hours before domestic flights unless your airline says otherwise. Leave more buffer from Nuevo Nayarit, Bucerías, Sayulita, or the South Shore.

Terminal layout
Departures use the upper level: airline counters, shops, the security checkpoint, then the gate areas for national and international flights.
See departure flowCheck-in counter to security checkpoint
The current PVR departure path is simple once you know the order. If you need counter service, start at your airline counter and check luggage there. If you already checked in online and only have carry-on bags, confirm your airline rules and go straight toward the upper-level departure corridor.

Duty-free, food court, restaurants, and gates
After security, you enter the airside departure area with duty-free shopping, food court options, restaurants, and gate seating. Terminal A is used for national departures. Terminal B is used for international departures. The two areas are connected by a long corridor with moving walkways, the flat mechanical belts that help passengers cover the distance without walking the whole way.

Security line
Lines can build at the checkpoint during peak departure windows, so do not treat a compact terminal as permission to arrive late.

Food and shops
After screening, use the upper departure areas for food, coffee, souvenirs, duty-free, and last-minute supplies.

National and international gates
Terminal A handles domestic flights and Terminal B handles international flights. Watch gate screens because the walk can matter.
Know the layout before you arrive
PVR is one main terminal building with arrivals on the lower level and departures on the upper level. The exact gate can change, so use this as a practical mental map, then follow airline, airport, and screen instructions on departure day.
Supplemental terminal information
This departure guide combines local walkthrough notes with public terminal guidance from Puerto Vallarta Airport Transfers, including the upper-level departures layout, recommended arrival timing, and one-terminal overview.
