Mayor Luis Ernesto Munguía has announced a significant boost for Puerto Vallarta’s struggling public transit system. Starting in March 2026, 68 new buses will be added to the city’s fleet.
This follows a previous batch delivered at the end of 2025 and is a direct response to the growing number of complaints regarding wait times and vehicle conditions. The mayor also hinted at long-term plans for articulated transport (BRT style) and a complete renovation of bus stops.
Sustainability is a key part of this upgrade. The city is pushing for electric buses to align with the state government’s eco-friendly mobility goals. According to the mayor, shifting toward electric transit is not just about being green—it’s also about long-term cost savings for the city.
