Banderas Bay Marriott Hotels Achieve Green Key Certification

Marriott’s WestinSheratonSt. Regis, and Marriott properties in Puerto Vallarta and Punta Mita have been awarded the globally recognized Green Key certification, celebrating their commitment to sustainable tourism practices. The achievement was honored at a special event held at The Westin Resort & Spa Puerto Vallarta.

These Marriott hotels have implemented a wide range of environmentally responsible initiatives, including energy efficiency improvements through LED lighting and optimized HVAC systems, responsible water management via treatment and recycling, and the elimination of single-use plastics.

They also prioritize robust recycling and waste reduction programs, participate in local ecosystem protection projects such as mangrove and marine life conservation, and offer educational programs on environmental awareness for staff, guests, and the community.

The celebratory event was attended by tourism officials and industry leaders, including Vicente García, Director of Beach Tourism in Puerto Vallarta, Luis Villaseñor, Director of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust, and Rebeca Sánchez, Sustainability Manager at Green Key.
