Fourth of July Rush to Mexico Expected at CBX
Cross Border Xpress (CBX) anticipates a surge in American travelers heading to Mexico for the Fourth of July holiday. The convenient service, which streamlines border crossing between California and Tijuana airport for airline passengers, is already averaging 8,000 daily users and expects a significant uptick this week.
“The holiday rush actually began this past weekend,” said CBX COO Edouard Piquet. “We processed around 25,000 passengers, making it one of our busiest periods.”
Many Americans traditionally celebrate Independence Day with a Mexican vacation, and CBX offers a cost-effective option. Roundtrip use of the bridge costs $45.95 per person, often significantly cheaper than flying out of major US airports.
To ensure a smooth experience during the expected influx, CBX advises travelers to arrive early and be prepared. This includes checking in with airlines beforehand, purchasing CBX tickets in advance, confirming valid passports, and potentially reserving parking if driving.
