The holiday spirit reached new heights this past Thursday as Puerto Vallarta officially lit what is being celebrated as the tallest Christmas tree in Mexico. Standing an impressive 30 meters (100 feet) tall, the magnificent structure was unveiled at the iconic Los Muertos Pier, creating a breathtaking new landmark for the city’s festive season.
Mayor Luis Munguía and DIF President Claudia Peña led the ceremony at 7 p.m., joined by hundreds of cheering residents and visitors. The event radiated warmth and community pride as local leaders shared heartfelt holiday wishes, marking the grand beginning of the city’s seasonal celebrations in one of its most picturesque locations.
The pier itself has been transformed into a sparkling wonderland. Visitors are greeted at the entrance by a grand illuminated archway designed like a giant Christmas gift, leading them toward the sea. Along the boardwalk, various glowing seasonal figures and artistic displays have been installed, providing the perfect backdrop for holiday photos and evening strolls.
This spectacular lighting officially launched Puerto Vallarta’s “Mar de Regalos” Christmas Festival, which features a rich program of cultural and family-friendly activities running through January 1, 2026.
