Mexico’s Tourism Nearing Pre-Pandemic Levels

Mexico’s tourism industry is on a promising path to recovery, with 2023 figures showing a remarkable resurgence towards pre-pandemic levels. A total of 42,153,077 international tourists visited the country in 2023, marking a 10% increase compared to the previous year. This encouraging trend brings Mexico closer to the 2019 record of 45,024,453 visitors before the pandemic’s impact.

The steady growth of international tourism in Mexico is evident since 2021, with annual increases of 31.2% in 2021 and 20.3% in 2022. This year’s 10% rise in international tourist arrivals further underscores the industry’s continuous rebound following the COVID-19 pandemic’s disruption.

According to the latest data, Puerto Vallarta, Nuevo Nayarit and Cabo San Lucas are among the most visited destinations by international tourists in 2024, measured by occupancy rates.

With the recovery gaining momentum, the outlook for Mexico’s tourism industry remains optimistic. The industry expects to continue attracting more international visitors, further boosting revenue and solidifying its position as one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations.
